Cutoff age for football referee, FAA flight controller

This week I met someone who is a referee for high school and college football. He has aspirations to be a referee for professional football. He explained to me that 50 years of age is the cutoff age for becoming a referee for professional football. That is, if you’re over 50 and you’re not in, then you can never get in.

A few months ago I met someone who is an FAA flight controller. She explained to me that 30 years of age is the cutoff age for becoming a flight controller. That is, if you’re over 30 and you’re not in, then you can never get it.
